Archibald Prize Regional Tour

The Art Gallery of NSW Archibald Prize is one of
Australia’s oldest and most prestigious art awards. Since its inception
in 1921 the prize has been awarded to some of Australia’s most
important artists. This year, the 89th year of the Archibald Prize,
there were 849 entries. The Archibald winner receives $50,000. The
winner is judged by the Trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Life Death Magic

Life, death and magic: 2000 years of Southeast Asian ancestral art
is the first major exhibition of animist art from Southeast Asia to be
held in Australia. The works of art originate from Indonesia, the
Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, East Timor, Brunei, Thailand,
Cambodia and southern China. For thousands of years, communities in
these areas have created remarkable art expressing the region’s most
ancient and enduring spiritual beliefs and social organisation. The
exhibition celebrates the antiquity and continuity of animism as the
inspiration for exquisite objects in bronze, stone, wood, gold and
fibre.

Junkie Couture

'Junkie Couture' is a wearable art exhibition will
showcase original handmade fashion and accessories made from materials
salvaged from the waste stream and aims to promote sustainability in the
fashion industry. Up-and-coming artists, jewellers, milliners and designers from
around Australia have submitted diverse works made from salvaged
materials.
In its inaugural year KASPE intends to support, promote and celebrate
arts and culture on the central coast. The acquisitions will become
part of a permanent display at Pioneer Dairy Sculpture Park.
